Simon Law is a mining engineering graduate of the Kalgoorlie School of Mines (Western Australia) and has a strong background in both open pit and underground metalliferous mine operations and planning, as well as financial systems and software development skills.  He has 1st class Mine Managers tickets for Western Australia, Victoria, Northern Territory, Queensland and Papua New Guinea.  He has undertaken postgraduate studies in management and groundwater hydrology.

Practical mining management experience ranges from narrow vein rail mines to LHOS trackless underground mines, and large and small open pit truck and shovel operations.  He has managed both owner operated mines and contractor operated mines.  Contract administration experience includes tender preparation and tender evaluation as well as tender estimation.

Mining engineering skills include underground and open pit mine design at detailed and conceptual level.  Costing at pre-feasibility and feasibility levels, mine cash flow budget preparation and mine site financial model building.

Management software skills include Excel and Access.  He has expert level skills in VBA and Office Automation and has built a number of financial and production reporting systems that integrate Excel and Access.  He has experience with various cost accounting systems and has been involved in the implementation of a number of cost accounting systems.

He is the author of RampBuilder and HaulTime, software packages for determining life of mine trucking requirements.

Mine planning packages include Surpac, MineSched and MicroLynx.

Practical operating experience includes underground narrow vein mining, small plant operations (crushing, floatation, gravity separation) and open pit and underground blasting.
